Friedbert Wall graduated in 1986 from SimonFraser University in British Columbia, Canada with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He started his career as a systems analyst and
training specialist supporting a large scale network of computers at Mobile Data International. In 1987, Motorola asked him to form a new test organization responsible for testing mobile communication products. He shipped many products during the next four and a half years at Motorola. He has enjoyed the testing field for 17+ years and is passionate about shipping quality software products. He has been working at Microsoft for the last thirteen years and is currently the Director of System Integration for MSN.
During his testing career Friedbert has built up three different test teams, set up processes and focused on staffing the teams. He will share with you some of the lessons he has learned during his testing career.

Staffing/Hiring
As a manager you need to focus on hiring the right people. Don’t budge on your hiring bar, even when it means that you won’t be hiring someone for a while. It is always harder if you have to let someone go than to making do without the right person for the time being.
Time Management
How do you manage the precious time that you are so short on? I will talk about some of the successful ways I have learned to deal with the hundred’s of email messages and the countless number of meetings. Don’t forget to take care of yourself either!

Why should I bother to measure anything? I will talk about why measurements are good, and in fact necessary, and what some of the measurements are.How to decide what to measure.

Are processes important? Is it possible to have too many processes? Look at processes that actually make sense
